Planets means 'Wanderer' - 8 planets in solar system. - Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune.  - Planets rotate anticlockwise (i. e)  west to east, except Venus and Uranus - orbit: elliptical path in which planets move around Earth due to gravitational pull of Sun.  - First 4 planets nearer to Sun:      "Inner or Terrestrial Planets" - Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars    Comparatively smaller in size    Composed of rocks    Surface has mountains, volcanoes, craters - Remaining 4 planets far from Sun:    "Outer planets or Jovian Planets"    Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune    "Gaseous giants"    Asteroid belt, found between Mars & Jupiter
