Genetic Variation This term refers to the difference in DNA among individuals. There can be many causes behind genetic variations primarily genetic recombination and mutation. • Mutation  Mutations are the alteration of nucleotide sequence in an organisms genome or extrachromosomal DNA. Causes 1. Error during DNA replication. 2. Other damage to DNA (like exposure to carcinogens). • Genetic Recombination              Genetic Recombination refers to the exchange of genetic material between different organisms which leads to offspring having a combination of traits of its parents. It occurs after synapsis during homologous chromosomal crossover leading to information transfer. -Jaydeep
