Intermittent fasting Scientists have recently claimed that giving rest to your gut is very important for a healthy life. It is necessary that we are in fed state for 8 hours a day and in unfed state for 16 hours a day, to be away from diseases. Also prescribed is fast for a full day, once or twice a month. These are applicable to presently healthy people, and not for those who suffer from diseases already. Now lets compare this with out religious practises. Today is Ekadashi(8th November 2019), that is, the Eleventh day on a lunar calendar. Eleventh day from a full moon or a no moon day. We have two Ekadashis every month and people are advised to fast for a full day, to abstain from foods as much as their health permits. The fast is to be broken on the next day, Dwadashi, that is, 12th day of the lunar calendar, early morning hours. To be continued...
